Hello

take & make kits

Our next take-n-make craft is a New Year's Resolution Journal for kids 8-13 years of age. The journal includes materials for decorating the journal, our upcoming February craft, and prompts to keep your kid writing, drawing, and designing from January to May and hopefully beyond!

What is it?

Determined to still provide activities for kids to do to keep their imaginations alive and well, the staff has created TAKE AND MAKE Kits, which provide all the supplies and instructions to make a craft at home.  The library will provide one kit per child per week.  Each week, when offered,  will have a different craft or project.  Children must be present to receive a kit, and you may pick up as many kits as are children present under the age of 13.  The kits will be part of our Curbside Services  and will be available as long as supplies last.

How Can I Participate?

Simply schedule a time to pick up a Take And Make Workshop Kit by calling the library  at 304-637-0287.

How Many Kits Can I Take?

Supplies are limited, and kits are available on a First Come First Serve basis.  Please indicate when calling or scheduling online how many kits you will be picking up.  Remember, Children MUST BE PRESENT when picking up. Once all kits have been claimed for the current week, scheduling online will no longer be available for that week.  IMPORTANT:  Kits will not be held for anyone.  Staff will only hold kits that are scheduled for pickup for 15 minutes past the scheduled time.  Failure to pick up kits will result in forfeiting the kit unless there are enough available to reschedule.

How Does Curbside Service Work For Kits?

Once you have scheduled an appointment, by phone at (304) 637-0287, you simply pull to the library curb or parking and call inside to let us know you are here and we will bring out the Workshop Kits.  You may also knock on our door when you arrive, if you are unable to call.

Why Do I Have To Bring My Child?

We have a limited number of Kits each week to hand out.  So that we make sure there are enough for many families to participate, we will limit the number of kits being picked up at one time to the number of children present.  No exceptions will be made.

To celebrate Black History Month, the Elkins-Randolph County Library is providing Freedom Quilt Take-N-Make Craft Kits for kids 8-13.

Kids will create Freedom Quilt squares using construction paper, fabric, and glue. The kit comes with a pamphlet explaining what freedom quilts are, instructions for 4 design options, and materials for completing the craft.

We ask participants to return individual squares to the library by Feb. 14, so we can hang your work in our front window as part of a community Freedom Quilt.
