Celebrating 50 Years as the Elkins public library!
The Elkins-Randolph County Library is now open, but we are continuing to provide take and make kits for busy kids and their grown-ups.
The Elkins-Randolph County Library is now fully open. Our library is setting out a new craft station each week from June through August in the new children's area. These stations are free and patrons can help themselves.
While the library is now fully open, we understand that some parents may be concerned about bringing unvaccinated or vulnerable children into a public setting, so we will continue to offer take and make kits through our curbside service.
Summer Reading Program kits will be prepared upon request by a parent or guardian. To request a kit and schedule a pick up time, call (304) 637-0287. You will need to allow a full business day for library staff to put together the kit or kits.
You can learn more about kits and other services offered each week on our "Tails and Tales" SRP page: https://elkinslibrary.com/tails-and-tales-srp
Remember that the child or children the kit is intended for must be present at the time of pickup. Only the current week's kit may be reserved.

Determined to still provide activities for kids to do to keep their imaginations alive and well, the staff has created TAKE AND MAKE Kits, which provide all the supplies and instructions to make a craft at home. The library will provide one kit per child per week. Each week, when offered, will have a different craft or project. Children must be present to receive a kit, and you may pick up as many kits as are children present under the age of 13. The kits will be part of our curbside services and will be available as long as supplies last.
Simply schedule a time to pick up a Take And Make Workshop Kit by calling the library at 304-637-0287.
Supplies are limited, and kits are available on a first come first serve basis. Please indicate when calling or scheduling online how many kits you will be picking up. Remember, Children MUST BE PRESENT when picking up. Once all kits have been claimed for the current week, scheduling online will no longer be available for that week. IMPORTANT: Kits will not be held for anyone. Staff will only hold kits that are scheduled for pickup for 15 minutes past the scheduled time. Failure to pick up kits will result in forfeiting the kit unless there are enough available to reschedule.
Once you have scheduled an appointment, by phone at (304) 637-0287, you simply pull up to the library curb or parking and call inside to let us know you are here and we will bring out the kits. You may also knock on our door when you arrive, if you are unable to call.
We have a limited number of kits each week to hand out. So that we make sure there are enough for many families to participate, we will limit the number of kits being picked up at one time to the number of children present. No exceptions will be made.

This week's craft takes place outdoors, so we are not providing a take and make kit. Instead we will bring materials outside to any participants reluctant to enter the library.
