Celebrating 50 Years as the Elkins public library!
Under construction now, a new branch of the Elkins Randolph County Public Library is coming soon! We can't wait to serve the Beverly community, and we may need your help.
Our vision is to provide the same services at our new branch that we offer at the main library in Elkins, West Virginia. The new location will help us reach farther into our service area, reaching patrons who now are travelling to Elkins or Mill Creek for materials and programs.
Our staff will provide after school programming, print/copy/fax services, notary, expert assistance in information and research, and of course books, and computer services. Free Wi-Fi will be available seven days per week, and a special Local History Collection will hold research materials and previous books donated to the Beverly Heritage Center.
The short answer is that we don't know an exact date yet. Our books are already cataloged and in the building. But we need a lot more than that to open!
The next step is installing shelving to hold the collections. Staff and students from the Elkins Mountain School have graciously designed the layout, and are ready to start assembling. But we need lumber! Donations for the purchase of lumber are being accepted now, and local lumber companies are welcome to donate supplies as well.
Next we will install new wiring, internet, computers and
Wi-Fi while we train our staff and Beverly Heritage Museum staff to use library technology for check outs.
Once these steps are completed, volunteer help will be needed to shelve materials, move furniture and decorate.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and open sooner. Your generous donation will fund the construction and preparation of the Beverly Heritage Branch Library.
